- Tuning Lab has two new options for terminating the execution of SQL statements – browse table data directly from execution plan details, directly execute a SELECT statement and view the result, advice on an index reorganization or table analysis
- SQL Scanner – gives you a summary report of the analyzed SQL and their execution plan classification
- Outline Managers – this window is now hidden by default and can be activated from a setting in the Options window
New Features of Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle 7.3: - Batch Optimizer – its user interface has been simplified – windows have been consolidated to reduce the numbers of columns that appear on the user interface and a new "Report" button has also been added
- Tuning lab toolbar updates – a new "Mark the Best SQL Alternative" button has been added, allowing you to easily replace the original SQL statement when generating the replacement script in the Batch Optimizer
- SQL Scanner – tight integration with Quest's Foglight Performance Analysis for Oracle allows users to extract SQL statements from a long-term SQL repository that was created in Quest Performance Analysis for Oracle
- Updates to "Options" – several options have been renamed and are now more user-friendly and descriptive
- Oracle Easy Connect Support – connect to Oracle using Oracle Easy Connect, so you do not need to have the Oracle client software installed when using Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle
